FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything families ask us about getting started, tuition, recital and life at the studio, in one place. Still wondering about something? Just ask.

Getting Started

What age can my child start dance at Ovation?

Regular season classes start at age 3 in our Early Childhood program. No experience is needed, just comfy fitted clothes, ballet shoes and a little curiosity.

Do you offer trial classes?

Yes. New dancers can book a trial class to meet the teacher, try the class and make sure it's the right fit before registering for the season. Trial classes are $8.

Which class is right for my dancer, and how is placement decided?

Classes are grouped by age and skill level: Tiny (3–5), Mini (5–7), Jr (8–10), Tween (11–13) and Teen (13–18). Placement is based on age, experience, instructor evaluation and readiness, so every dancer lands where they'll feel confident.

Some higher-level classes require instructor recommendation or a co-requisite class such as ballet or technique. If you're not sure where to start, call or text us and we'll help you pick.

How do I register, and is there a registration fee?

Registration happens online through Ellever, our parent portal. Full-season classes have an annual registration fee of $40 per dancer, due at enrollment and non-refundable. All families keep an active Ellever account for schedules, billing and studio messages.

Can we join after the season starts?

Yes. Enrollment stays open as space allows. Recital participation may depend on when you join, because costumes are ordered ahead of time.

Tuition & Billing

How much is tuition, and what's included?

All-inclusive tuition starts at $80 a month for one weekly class. It covers weekly classes, recital costumes and accessories, recital participation, dress rehearsals, select recital tights and shoes, and a recital T-shirt and select recital items. Not included: the annual registration fee, competition team fees, pointe shoes and recital tickets.

Tuition details →

Is tuition monthly or for the whole season? Are there multi-class or family discounts?

Tuition is divided into 8 equal monthly payments throughout the dance season. The first payment is due before classes begin, with remaining payments collected monthly. Your exact payment schedule will be provided during registration. Additional classes cost less per class, and a family maximum caps tuition for busy households. Families who pay the full season by the second Friday of the season save 5%, and you and a friend each get a $20 credit when you refer a family who enrolls.

How do I add, change or drop a class?

Submit class change requests by emailing us at [email protected] or by calling or texting (208) 487-8296. Withdrawals need 30 days' written notice on the withdrawal form, and a $30 early withdrawal fee applies after the first two weeks of the season. Tuition and registration payments are non-refundable because recital costs are committed in advance.

Recital & Performances

Does my dancer have to be in the recital?

Most classes perform in our annual recital at the end of the season. Dancers in performance classes are included automatically. If you'd like to opt out, let us know by December 1, before costumes are ordered. A few technique-only and short-term classes don't perform.

Do I need to buy recital tickets?

Yes. Everyone in a seat needs a ticket, including children who sit in their own seat; little ones on a lap are free. Tickets go on sale online in the spring, and standard tickets are also sold at the door.

Are costumes and music age-appropriate?

Always. Our instructors carefully choose music, costumes and choreography that are age-appropriate and respectful, and we avoid anything explicit or suggestive. If you ever have a question about studio content, talk with Kiah directly.

Programs

How does the competition team work, and how do dancers join?

Ovation has five competition teams, with teams for ages 6–18. Interested dancers submit a Team Interest Form by June 1 and complete at least 16 hours of summer technique training, where instructors evaluate them. Placements are announced in late July, before Team Choreography Camp.

What is the Student Ambassador Program?

It's our leadership program for dancers ages 12–18. Ambassadors join the Education Support Team, assisting in classes and mentoring younger dancers, or the Business Support Team, helping with events, marketing and studio operations. They earn community service hours and leadership experience.

Do you offer adult classes or wedding dance lessons?

Do you offer private lessons?

At the Studio

What should my dancer wear to class?

Fitted dancewear and the right shoes for the class, with hair pulled away from the face. Shoes are included in your tuition for most classes and will be ordered at the start of the season. Dancewear can be ordered from our Nimbly shop.

Can parents watch class?

Parents are welcome to watch their dancer's class on our lobby monitors, which provide a live view of each studio. To maintain a focused learning environment, parents are not permitted inside the dance studios during classes, with the exception of our designated parent-and-me classes.

What happens with bad weather?

If we have to cancel for weather or a facility emergency, we notify families through Ellever and by text by 2:00 pm. Makeup options may be offered.

Where are you located, and where do I park?

We're in downtown Twin Falls at 333 Main Ave E. Please park responsibly and don't block entrances or neighboring businesses. Tiny and Mini dancers should be walked into the building by a parent or guardian.
