Recital

Recital Info for Families

Our recital celebrates every dancer's growth, hard work and accomplishments from the season.

Stay tuned for details on next year's recital!

When and where is the recital?

Our annual recital takes place each May! Specific dates, times, and venue information are shared with enrolled families as the season progresses.

Who performs?

Most classes perform, except some technique-only or short-term classes. Dancers in performance classes are included automatically. To opt out, tell us by December 1, before costumes are ordered; costume and performance expenses are committed after that date.

Rehearsals and attendance

Recital preparation is part of the dance season! Dancers participate in in-class dress rehearsals, with additional rehearsals or stage preparation scheduled as needed. Families will receive recital details and expectations in advance.

Tickets

Everyone in a seat needs a ticket, including children in their own seat; little ones on a lap don't. Tickets go on sale online in the spring. VIP tickets include early entry 30 minutes before showtime; general admission opens 20 minutes before. Standard tickets are also sold at the door.

Your recital fee covers your dancer's performance experience (costume, recital shirt, backstage support and activities); tickets are for the audience.

Recital packets, pictures and practice videos

Detailed recital packets with show orders, arrival times, costume and hair notes and ticket info go out closer to the show, along with picture day dates and practice music and videos in Ellever.

Studio Policies

Studio Policies at a Glance

The highlights from our 2026–27 Studio Handbook. Tuition and billing policies are on the Tuition page, and the full handbook is here.

Attendance & tardiness

Regular attendance helps dancers build skills, remember choreography and stay ready for recital. Please submit absences in Ellever. Arrive 5–10 minutes early; dancers more than 10 minutes late may be asked to observe for safety. Frequent absences or tardiness can affect choreography placement and recital participation.

Illness

Please keep dancers home with a fever, vomiting or contagious symptoms until they've been symptom-free for 24 hours, and let us know about injuries or medical concerns.

Weather & studio closures

If classes are canceled for weather or a facility emergency, we notify families through Ellever and by text by 2:00 pm. Scheduled breaks and occasional emergency closures are factored into tuition, and makeup options may be offered.

Drop-off, pick-up & supervision

Tiny and Mini dancers must be walked into the building by a parent or guardian. Pick dancers up right after class; they'll wait inside until you arrive. Let the front desk know if someone else is picking up. Ovation doesn't provide childcare before or after class, so please call if you're delayed.

Parents in the lobby

Parents of dancers 4 and under stay in the lobby during class. To keep classes focused, parents watch on the lobby monitors instead of entering classrooms, and messages, snacks or medication go through a staff member. Please don't coach from the lobby.

Dancer expectations

Dancers are respectful to teachers, staff, classmates and the space; arrive in dress code with hair secured; and keep phones and smartwatches silenced and put away. Water only in the studios: no gum, food or other drinks, and no street shoes on the dance floor.

Communication

Ellever is our main channel for announcements, schedules and messages. Urgent notices and closures go out by text, and billing reminders and newsletters by email. Questions and concerns go to the front desk or Director (not instructors), by appointment, email or the Ellever app. Please keep your contact and emergency info current in Ellever.

Social media

Share content that reflects Ovation's values of kindness and professionalism. Don't post rehearsal or performance content without studio permission, only post your own child unless another family gives written consent, and never include a minor's name, age or location. Studio concerns belong in official channels, not online.

Inclusion & support personnel

We welcome dancers of all abilities. If your dancer attends with a paraprofessional, aide or therapist, let us know before the season (or as soon as the need comes up) and complete a Support Accommodation Form. We're happy to coordinate with your dancer's school or care team.

Choreography & safety

All choreography and class content belong to Ovation Dance; ask before performing it at a talent show or school event (we love to say yes!). All staff are background-checked, first aid is given by certified staff, and music and costumes are always age-appropriate.

Questions for the front desk?

Office hours are Mon–Thu 2:00–8:00 pm, or by appointment. Call or text (208) 487-8296, or email [email protected].
