– Do I need to buy a ticket?
Yes—everyone attending the recital must have a ticket.
– Are children required to have a ticket?
Children who are sitting in their own seat must have a ticket.
Children sitting on a lap do not require a ticket.
– When do tickets go on sale?
Tickets open Friday, April 3.
– What is the difference between VIP and Standard tickets?
VIP tickets include early access to the theater (30 minutes before showtime), allowing you to choose seats before general admission begins.
Standard ticket holders will be admitted after VIP seating.
– What time should I arrive for the show?
VIP ticket holders may enter 30 minutes before showtime. General admission begins 20 minutes before showtime.
– Can I save seats?
No—seat saving is not permitted during VIP early entry.
Once general admission begins, guests may select from the remaining available seats.
Please be mindful and only reserve seats for your immediate party. Large sections may not be held.
– Can I buy tickets at the door?
Yes, you can buy standard tickets at the door for $15.
– Why do I have to purchase a ticket if I already paid a recital fee?
The recital fee supports your dancer’s participation in the performance and their overall experience, including items such as their recital shirt, backstage support, and activities. Tickets are for audience members attending the show and are required for entry.
– What show is my dancer in?
Check the Recital Week Guide to find your dancer’s show time (Mini, Junior, or Senior).
– What time does my dancer need to arrive?
Arrival times are listed in the Recital Week Guide.
– What if my dancer is late?
Please arrive on time for your assigned check-in. Late arrivals may not be permitted to perform, depending on where the show is in progress.
– Can I leave after my dancer performs?
For the safety and support of all dancers and to minimize disruptions, we kindly ask that guests remain for the full performance.
– What is expected of audience members during the show?
Please be respectful of all performers by remaining seated, minimizing movement during routines, and silencing phones during the performance.
– Can I take photos or videos during the performance?
Yes, please be respectful of those around you and avoid flash photography during the performance.
– Where should I park?
The recital will take place at John Roper Auditorium. Parking is limited. There is a small parking lot, street parking, and additional parking available near the school. Please plan ahead and allow extra time, as late arrivals may miss check-in or performance times.
– Why is tuition still due in May?
Tuition is divided into equal monthly installments across the dance season (August–May), with August/September combined as the first payment. Payments are not based on the number of classes in a given month. May is the final installment.
– What if my account has a balance due?
All accounts must be paid in full by May 1 in order for dancers to participate in the recital on May 2. Dancers with an outstanding balance may not be permitted to perform.
– Where do I drop off my dancer?
Drop-off details and location are outlined in the Recital Week Guide.
– What time should I drop off my dancer?
Please arrive at your assigned call time listed in the Recital Week Guide.
– Where do I pick up my dancer?
Pick-up procedures and location are outlined in the Recital Week Guide.
– Can I go backstage with my dancer?
No—for safety only performers and authorized staff are allowed backstage.
– Do I need to stay at the theater with my dancer?
No—once dancers are checked in, they will remain backstage under staff supervision.
– Can my dancer leave after they perform?
Dancers will remain backstage for the duration of the show and will be dismissed according to recital procedures. Full details will be provided at checkin.
– What should my dancer bring to the recital?
Dancers should arrive with all costume pieces, dance shoes, and any required accessories. Please label all items.
– Do dancers arrive in costume?
Yes—dancers should arrive dressed in their first costume, with hair and makeup fully done, ready for check-in. Hair and makeup will not be done backstage.
– What should my dancer wear for hair and makeup?
Hair and makeup requirements can be found under the Makeup & Hair section.
– Should my dancer bring extra belongings?
No—please limit personal belongings brought backstage. Ovation is not responsible for lost or misplaced items.
– What if we forget something?
Please double-check all items before arriving and use the Costume Checklist to make sure your dancer has everything they need. We do not have extra costume pieces, accessories, or shoes available. Limited tights may be available.
– Who do I contact if I have a question on recital day?
Please refer to the Recital Portal, as it contains all important recital details including show times, arrival times, and procedures.
